Nov. 1st, 2005 09:12 amhere are some random updates.
we had to call AOL twice to close our account. They tried really hard to get us to stay since we've been customers for 7 years. So I had to be a pushy customer and make them cancel my service right away. Now if I try to sign on to AOL, all I get is a screen that says "we're sorry you're gone". sweet.
so that means we now have cable internet. holy crap, it's like a whole new intarnetz.
we went to dinner at our local Japanese restaurant recently. They didn't have natto on the menu but I decided to ask for it anyhow. The waitress seemed confused at first. she asked me how I usually eat it. So she went back to the fella at the sushi bar and they talked for a few minutes in japanese but I did hear them say natto a few times. the waitress brought over a little plate of natto, nicely garnished.
natto is one of those real Japanese things that most restaurants don't put on the menu because I doubt many amerikans would eat it. It's got a very earthy flavor and a slimy consistency. me, I love the stuff.
Corpse Bride is a good movie, go see it. And while you're at it get the Bela Lugosi collection on DVD. it's four movies he made with Karloff. Since I'm a huge Karloff fan..why haven't I bought this yet.
Shadow of the Colossus for PS2 is amazing. You can actually just ride Agro around and explore. the environments are huge. probably like what you get in an mmorpg. but if you do decide to fight one of the Colossi, be warned. they're all the size of godzilla. no, really. you have to figure out how to get onto them, climb up, and stab them in just the right spot. holy crap this is a fun game. done by the same team that did ICO.
there are, I think 16 colossi, I've killed 10. but it's not clear why I'm doing it. the character you control is apparently trying to bring a girl back to life. but the Colossi don't seem to be evil, or hurting anything. So is it a good idea to be killing them? who is this dead girl anyway? no clues so far.
I always wanted a game that had huge explorable environments, and this game is full of them.
